I'm Pregnant Again! - Coping With First Trimester Woes

Friday, April 08, 2016

Hello! I've taken a really long break from this space because I'm pregnant again and my morning sickness is terribleeeee :( I'm in my 12th week now and am so glad that I'm starting to feel better, keeping fingers crossed that it will only get better from here so I can start enjoying my pregnancy soon.

(this part might be a bit gross so pls skip if you don't wanna read about my symptoms heh)
For the past 1.5mths, I've probably stepped out of the house max 3 times and regretted each time because I'd end up throwing up outside and then come home and suffer from terrible heartburns and nausea for the next two days haiii. I throw up dozens of times everyday, but the days where I actually sit in a vehicle and go out, oh boy the impact is.... really bad. I feel that it's worse this time as compared to my previous pregnancy (was also miserable the first time round) because I also suffer from excess salivation.. it's a condition called ptyalism that usually happens to women who are going through severe morning sickness, didn't experience this the last time and it's very very annoying. I go through like boxes of tissues everyday because it feels too gross to swallow the excess saliva :/ This time round the heartburns and chest pains are also a lot worse than the first time as well, and frankly I find it more uncomfortable than nausea because it lasts throughout the day. I did manage to find some form of relief recently though! Was rather proud of myself hahaha, turns out sticking baby fever koolpads on the chest when it's burning up helps! If you're suffering from terrible heartburns too, can give it a try :)

So anyway, enough of my symptoms and on to happier things haha; here's a pic of a lovely bouquet some friends surprised me with! I was really so so touched ♥︎ To be honest, since this is the second time round and I pretty much went through the same thing before, I thought no one would really care heh.

And of course not forgetting the little one who makes me smile everyday, my Kayla ♥︎ My biggest worry is if she will feel neglected when the new baby comes, hopefully she will love her little sister/brother.

Kayla has grown up so much over the last few months and is so so hyper. She's also become the tiny boss of the house, commanding everyone around her to either play with this or that particular toy, read a book with her or get her a snack lol. She's also quite fussy with food now as well! I'm not sure is it because we spoilt her but there were a few days when she refused to eat anything other than her pasta. It takes a lot of coaxing her for her to be willing to eat the "healthy stuff" like baby cereals or vegetables. Hopefully this is just a phase!

Signing off now and hoping I'll wake up to a symptom free day tomorrow hehhh, nights!

  8. The doctor may cut off the umbilical cord that ties you with your baby, but no one can cut off the cord of love built over the next nine months which will tie you with your child for a lifetime. Congratulations on being pregnant.

  9. Try the Ginger Cookies....
Lots of pregnant women cite cravings for sweets, even while battling nausea. These cookies build in whole grains and the tummy-tempering properties of ginger. If all you can manage is a cookie while you muddle through these weird appetite swings, this one offers a little bit of balance.

  11. I did not have any Hypermesis Gravidarum with my own pregnancy, however, I am curious about it and I found out that there are only a few suggestions are available which its treatments may include:

Bed Rest –This may provide comfort, but be cautious and aware of the effects of muscle and weight loss due to too much bed rest.

Acupressure – The pressure point to reduce nausea is located at the middle of the inner wrist, three finger lengths away from the crease of the wrist, and between the two tendons. Locate and press firmly, one wrist at a time for three minutes. Sea bands also help with acupressure and can be found at your local drug store.

    Herbs – ginger or peppermint
Homeopathic remedies are a non-toxic system of medicines. Do not try to self medicate with homeopathic methods; have a doctor prescribe the proper remedy and dose.

    All the best to you!
