Kayla's First Meal
Friday (the day before) was a big day for us at home because Kayla is finally starting on semi-solids! It was really fun for D and I to research and plan on what to let her try first, in the end we decided on avocado + breastmilk :) I think she kinda liked it because she didn't turn away or reject the food? Prior to this, D already let her taste grapes, chocolate, ice cream and some other random foods because he just couldn't wait hahaha. So far I think she likes ice cream the most because she got so super excited after just one lick! Below is a video and some pictures of her having her first meal ♥︎
Kayla is turning 5months in a few days

Hahaha..it is all about tongue practice here!
ReplyDeleteFor any baby, it takes different tongue movements to eat off a spoon than to suck out a bottle or breast.
Enjoy now Baby Kayla of your first meal !

I didn’t start introducing baby food to my youngest Bella until almost 8 months. She had NO interest in eating solids, and since she was still gaining weight, the doctor gave me the a-okay in waiting. Just because he’s 6 months doesn’t mean he’s ready to eat solid foods. You are the expert on your baby, of course. However, if she’s still growing, don’t feel you have to rush him into solids..

Congrats, Kayla seems to enjoy her first meal :)

Yeah, watching our baby experience new tastes and textures is

Hi, happy for both of you...I would like to share one of the important note when it comes to baby food: DENY the sugary foods as long as possible ~
ReplyDeleteI let my kids have sugary treats once in a while now, but when they were babies I was very strict about the sugars. The earlier you introduce your baby to sweets, the harder it’s going to be to encourage that same mouth to enjoy kale, or carrots, or other, more nutritious (but less sweet) foods. We let that first birthday cake be her first step into Candyland :)

As far as books go, I really enjoyed Baby-Led Weaning, The Essential Guide to Introducing Solid Foods by Rapley and Murkett especially in the beginning when I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go for BLW or not. I also found a lot of information on babyledweaning.com and http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/babyledweaning.htm
ReplyDeleteAnother good source of information and help was the BLW group from babycenter. It was great to have the forums to asks questions and get replies quickly from other using BLW. It is scary at first especially as a FTM (First Time Mom) when no one else seems to know what it is, but once you get started, you realize that it is much simpler and less scary than it seems.
