Kayla Turns 1Friday, February 19, 2016
My precious little darling just turned 1 on Feb 7th 2015! Coincidentally, that's also the eve of Chinese New Year this year, so she got double red packets hahaha.
This past year with this little one has been nothing short of amazing and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Kayla is now able to walk, point at things she wants, baby talk, clap her hands and climb on you to give you a big big hug. The affectionate side of her really surprised me, I've never expected a young baby to be able to hug my legs or wrap her arms around me. Just a few days ago, there was a thunderstorm and she got really scared so I accompanied her in her playpen for a pretty long time. I was kinda tired so I ended up lying down, and she actually climbed onto me and gave me a kiss on my face for the first time!! My heart totally melted haha
I think Kayla is in one of the happiest stages of her life now, she literally laughs at everything especially when we are at home. But the one person that makes her laugh the most is her papa, she associates him so much with being funny, all he has to do now is just smile at her and most likely you'll hear laughter erupting from this little baby.
Even though we decided not to throw a big birthday for her this year, we ended up "cutting the cake" 3 times lol. First time was with D's maternal side of the family, second time was just with us, D's direct family, my grandmother and aunt, and the third time was with D's paternal side of the family. I actually bought the cake and planned for the second round of "cake cutting" at the last minute because Kayla was practically crying through the cake cutting the first time round as there was too many people in an unfamiliar place. And I was worried that the same thing would've happened at the third cake cutting since there was going to be lots of people as well.
So happy to share that Kayla was really happy during the 2nd celebration! She was smiling and clapping, and was super excited to open all the presents she got from the night before hehe. We also allowed her to play with her cake which made her happier I think haha.
Kayla's present from D and I is this SmartTrike :) She can't pedal it on her own yet but she really enjoys sitting in it and going for evening walks. My helper told me that there are even times when Kayla will point at the trike and mumble so my helper will take her out haha.
Kayla also started attending classes this year! It's amazing how fast kids learn these days. She went from being super shy on the first day to one of the most active kids in class. Now, she'll walk all the way to the middle of the circle during story time on her own haha. She will also actively try to play with other babies (although she can get pretty rough :/).
And Kayla is still an avid fan of swimming, am sure this is still the top of her list of favourite activities to do :)
This little girl never fails to put a smile on my face every single day and if you ever read this one day.. Mama loves you very very much!! ♥︎
