Week 37 Pregnancy

Monday, January 26, 2015

I've put off writing this week's update for a couple of days because I thought baby was coming out, but after a couple of false alarms I came to terms with the fact that she probably might not make it out this week :(

Gained a total of 14kg so far and have been experiencing bad bodyaches, cramps and stronger contractions. There have been good days though where I was able to go out for dinners and move around more :) Also had home visits from friends which I really appreciate, support during this time really made these last weeks a lot more bearable.

Had my last gynae appointment a couple of days ago and apparently I'm already in early labour, 1-2cm dilated! That was what got us all excited and kept thinking baby's coming out lol. In actual fact though, this stage in pregnancy can last anywhere from days to weeks depending on the baby. We've also signed up with Cordlife this week to keep baby's cord blood and cord lining! Modern technology is seriously mind-blowing?! Will share more on that in another post, highly recommend all parents-to-be to consider keeping their baby's cord!

Signing off now because I'm going through another bout of bad cramps :/ Can't wait for baby to come out!

  3. I understand how you feel....I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant & patiently (ok, not so patiently) waiting for my baby girl to arrive. I'm ready for this pregnancy to be over & meet my LO!!

The anticipation of wondering when my water bag will break is killing me!! My BP has been high the last 2 weeks so I've had several NSTs, but my LO passed with flying colors! I was also spilling protein & had to collect my urine for 24 hours, but everything came back fine!! I was hoping to be induced because of my BP & severe swelling, but they didn't see the need! So here I am, just waiting! I'm afraid to go anywhere in fear my water will break haha!!

Anyone else as frustrated as me?! Congrats to those of you giving birth, I'm reading your stories & getting jealous haha!! I hope I don't go past my due date, ahhhh!!!!

  4. I'm totally frustrated. I feel your pain. Had my membranes swept today and I'm 2cm dilated. Cervix is soft and thin. I'm ready! Just wish my baby was! UGH!

  5. I figure I am doing everything I can to make things work... if she don't wanna come out... nothing I can do about it, and I am just going to enjoy the time I spend with my hubby in the meantime. And enjoy doing a few things we won't be able to- like having an Indiana Jones marathon and cranking the volume WAY WAY up. lol. I swear I dreamed that theme song in my sleep last night.

  7. I've been having on/off prodromal labor since last week. I had my membranes swept on Tuesday and nothing. The prodromal labor is driving everyone around me nuts, especially DH. On top of all of that I feel like absolute crap.

  9. At this point, yes, I am so overwhelmed that I just wish she would decide to be born already because then no one would blame me for dropping all these balls I'm trying to juggle to take care of her. :(

Any day now, Miss Maggie. Mommy needs a good baby hug.

  10. I'm frustrated too! I'm 40 weeks and 3 days. I would love to say come out whenever you are ready............ but I feel all this pressure from outsiders! My Mom is visiting from AZ on Monday, and wants to meet the baby. She's only here for a week and I'm afraid she will miss it. Plus- I'm not working now since I travel 45 minutes away one way, and I'm a hygienist so it's easier for them to just have someone replace me instead of last minute. I don't have maternity benefits, and only planning on taking 6 weeks off so now I feel like I'm missing out on a whole week with my daughter. Also- every day I get a message or phone call saying. . . .'no baby"?? People act like I gave birth and just didn't tell them!?! Even more frustrating it doesn't even seem like she's close to coming. No contractions, I'm not dilated, and Doctor says the cervix is really high. I'm doing the 24 hr. pee in a jug thing right now so I feel confined to the house. I really hope things just change all of a sudden and she decides to come out today!

  11. I'm miserable & uncomfortable for this overdue week! I waddle instead of walk & my calves/ankles/feet are super swollen that it hurts to walk! I'm always so disgustingly sweaty too, it's embarrassing! My back is killing me & I barely sleep anymore & I'm so exhausted!! The vaginal shooting pains & constant discharge aren't fun either! I'm just so ready at this point!

I keep telling myself she'll come when she's ready!! She's being a stinker already, things have to be her way lol!

I'm just so excited to meet her!! In the meantime we all just need to rest & take it easy! I have talks with my LO all the time, telling her that me & her daddy will buy her whatever she wants if she comes soon & gives mommy an easy labor haha!!

    Thanks for sharing my frustration.

  12. I am 4 days past my due date, and very frustrated with the constant, "anything yet?" or "have you had the baby?" but the one thing that has bothered me the most is that EVERYONE seems to know the "magical" way to induce labor. So many people have come to me bugging me with "oh have you tried walking?" NO! I just sit all the time! Or "have you tried this or that?" my hubby is the worst about it. He will not get off this CASTOR OIL thing!! I have told him over and over that I don't want to drink the nasty crap and that I am already going to be uncomfortable because of contractions, why would I risk making myself even MORE uncomfortable by having diarrhea the whole time!!! It is getting ANNOYING! He will come when he is ready. And I just wish everyone would leave me be!! I hope you had fun reading my rampage :) I know it has helped me pass some time reading everyone else’s!!

Best Regards to all including me :)

  13. I am now 5 days overdue and so sick of people telling me to make the most of my sleep! I am not sleeping! I am enormously sore and cant sit still. I know people mean well but when they say so you havent had the baby yet, I mean really! You can see Ive not had the baby! It feels like it will never happen. Chin up everyone and all the best..

    Lol...Hope our babies come soon!

  14. I keep getting "oh, you're still here then?" from people in my small village - it's a bit unnerving to be honest, as if they are expecting me not to survive childbirth! And then I get the people asking when the baby is coming, if I knew that...!! ARGH!

I didn't record my LMP date as I was incredibly irregular, so my due date comes from a scan at 7 weeks and has never been changed, according to that I'm 9 days over today, but I'm not taking that as read, with it being 26th Jan today I'm happy to wait another day at least!

I'm also completely fed up with the "oh you should make the most of it", I can't sleep, I can't walk, I can't sit down, I can't lie down, I can't dress myself, I have no appetite, I have permanent heartburn and I have a room full of baby things getting dusty - I just want to meet my baby, and sleep on my stomach!!

  15. I am so sick of people asking me if we have had the baby yet. I am 4 days past due. I am screening calls now & have tried most home remedies to no avail.
I am anxious about the growing size of this baby, but also worried that I will have to have a cesarean, which I do not want. I have permanent reflux & am sleeping on a recliner. I am worried that something will go wrong with our baby if it is left much longer.
I am totally over this wait & feel like I am going to burst. Sick of everyone's well-meaning comments. I could not be more uncomfortable if I tried & doubt I will ever go into labour naturally.
I need prayers for my delivery ASAP!

  16. I am 40 weeks and 4 days now, I keep getting the annoying calls and texts asking if my son is here yet. Rather than to let me rest and be if he is! I am going in to the hospital tomorrow for some exams and I guess depending on the results either I come home or get induced.
    Wish me all the best.

  17. Its my due date today and already I can't handle- "whens the baby coming?" If I knew I'd tell you! I mean really! And the very insensitive one: "Are you sure the baby is still kicking?" This is not something a first-time mom wants to hear. Ever.

  18. I have a history of being late with my kids. I have two so far and am expecting my third. With my first born I opted for an induction because I was naive. With the second one I told them no induction unless medically necessary. Still, one of my OB's kept trying to push it!! It made me so mad to where I hated going to my appointments. I was about 10 days over when my labor started on its own. I am expecting this one to go over too and will fight as long as I have to!!

  19. You are not alone!

Any minute now. I went into preterm labor, as the Dr. called it, at 48 hrs till the END of week 38(full term). They felt it needed to be stopped and since then I have been contracting for 8 hrs every single night but to no avail. When people, friends and strangers alike, ask me every single day variations of is she here yet or aren't you past due by now I started responding with, "Any moment- wanna stick around and catch?" Eventually they got the idea and stopped asking since I am now three days over due and still contracting.

Pray for speedily delivery for both of us!!

  20. With my first I went ten days past due date before agreeing to an induction (which led to a c-section) for no medical reason other than that they offered and I was so annoyed by everyone's questions/comments! I am currently 4 days past due date with my second and it's that time again, of constant phone calls just to see if anything is happening. If it was one person, it wouldn't be bad, but it's the combination of EVERYONE, and that a couple people really do want to "check in" every day. We have told people we will let them know when it happens, that God will choose the due date, and most babies are born past due date anyway! We will not agree to another induction unless there is a real medical need, so when people ask, "How long will they let you go?" I say, "Until the baby comes!" Honestly, I would have a lot more patience to enjoy the last days/weeks of pregnancy if it weren't for everyone else's impatience!

  21. Patience gives sweet results, most over due babies are healthier and more cute. I'm overdue by two days and everyone is saying that I should be induced but I'm gonna wait.

  22. I was 7 days late with my first two and I expect more of the same with this one. I just tell people it's better to go late because labor doesn't catch you by surprise. When you are several days past your due date, you are so done being pregnant that when you finally do go into labor you're like "bring it!" You don't even care how much it's going to hurt and you aren't afraid, just relieved. It's a great attitude to go into labor with. Plus, when you are past your due date, chances are you're already well-effaced and partially dilated (especially if your midwife has already given you some stretch and sweeps). And, let's face it, going in at 4 cms is the way to go. Who doesn't want to start labor almost halfway finished?

  23. I was pregnant and overdue with baby no. 5, they say it get easier & quicker but they LIE.

My other kids were 34-35 weeks when I had them, only my son (baby no. 3 was 41 weeks 1 day & emergency c-section) all labours didn't last more than 7 hours.
Baby no. 5 wanted to leave her mark. 41 weeks 6 days overdue 15 hours of labour... my tip is you never know just trust yourself as a mother.

  24. When I was overdue I got some really stupid comments. But the one comment that I received that was SUPER helpful was that it's easier to have the baby in than out.

I was so anxious to meet my baby and thought that I would sleep better once my baby was out. Whew, was I wrong! Being pregnant is way easier than having a newborn. Savor it for the last few days.

    All the best to you,

    Connie

  25. I'm so happy for baby to come when they're ready, whenever that may be, but I also know what it's like to be overdue and soooo uncomfortable.

I saw this little poem and it made me smile and hopefully it'll make some of us feel a bit better too :-)

My baby's not a library book,
    so she's not overdue.
My baby doesn't take long to cook,
coz she's not a veggie stew.

    My baby's not an elephant,
and I'm not fit to burst.
The time and date aren't relevant,
we're blessed with days, not cursed.

My baby can't read dates as yet,
    because she's very new.
So there's no cause to fuss and fret,
if she doesn't come on cue.

    So stop your worry,
    stop your asking,
    there's no hurry, we're relaxing
    in this golden pregnant time,
this pause, which is just hers and mine.

  29. I was sitting in my room on a rainy night, 3 days away from my due date to have my little girl. I figured that as the time got closer I got a little more nervous, but also a little more excited every time I thought of the moment I got to meet my baby. I started writing these words down and came up with this beautiful poem, and it is now a part of her baby book. She was born right on her due date 3 days later, and she is my whole world, and the anticipation in waiting to be her mommy was worth the wait!!

"Can't Wait To Be Your Mommy"

So I am sitting here thinking of the perfect words to say,
to tell you how I feel about the arrival of your birthday.

I am feeling a little nervous, with hopes I do everything right,
but I can't wait to be your mommy, every waking day and every sleepy night.

I have so many plans and things for us to do,
So I sit here in anticipation just waiting to meet you.

You already mean the world to me and so, so much more,
I can't wait to be your mommy, that's all I'm waiting for.

Mine and your bags are packed and waiting in the car,
because the day that you will be here isn't very far.

So here I sit thinking of the perfect words to say,
But all that comes to mind is
I can't wait to be your mommy every single day!!!!

  30. I have written a poem before my baby came,
I would like to share it with you:

    To my unborn child,

what I wish to give you in times to come,
    happiness, and wisdom,
    a life filled with fun,
to explore all adventures of your curious mind,
to become knowledgeable of what you'll find,
as I await your arrival and the presence of newborn cries,
I picture how you'll look when I open up my eyes.

I feel your movements every time I wake each day,
letting mommy know that you're okay,
    obstacles I hope you'll overcome,
education I know you'll get done,
I stay up late reading to you,
    talking to my stomach,
    a feeling I never knew,

    hungry all the time
'No doubt you're a son of mine',
You make me feel happy even when I'm sad,
because the formation of another life makes me glad.

    Proud of you I am,
I already know how you'll be,
a smart 'lil' man for mommy to see,
no worries from me a mom to be,
to a special baby boy I can't wait to see.

    Hope you will enjoy it...
