Kayla 3 Months

Thursday, May 21, 2015

My little newborn has entered the infant stage of her life! Every other day I'm asking myself, where did all the time go?! These past 3 months with Kayla is handsdown the best 3 months of my life (and I'll probably say the same thing in my 6th month, 9months, 1year old posts and so on haha). I can also understand why every parent always thinks their baby is the cutest?! Hahaha. Maybe its because we get to see a side of the baby that no camera can ever capture; that pure love in those eyes, the heartfelt smile more genuine than any you've ever seen.. and it's all directed at you. ♥︎

We've got to experience some pretty amazing things together since my last update (here), where she laughed for the first time. Unfortunately, that laugh was a one-off event :/ Still I'm so thankful that she actually laughed for us on Mother's Day haha, truly the best gift ever.

About 2weeks ago, Kayla and I got to spend 8 full days together. D had to go on a work trip and grandparents on both sides were all overseas (what are the odds right?). So, I guess that week really brought us a lot closer. My helper would help me watch her at times when I'm out or busy, but after 11pm we're pretty much on our own till the next morning. Although I missed D a lot, I also really loved just having Kayla all to myself during that time. We ended up spending most of the time latching during feeds instead of using the bottle (which really helps so much in bonding?!). To moms who are facing difficulty latching your baby, just hang in there and don't give up! Because when your baby finally learns how to latch properly, it is such a wonderful feeling.. especially when she suddenly looks up and smiles at you.. omg major heart melting moment!

Here's a brief update on what went on in our home recently :)

Our nightly bedtime situation:
I would place her on one side of the bed next to her toy lamb, and she'd slowly inch over to my side of the bed hahaha

Ever since Kayla's hernia (causing swollen naval) has completely recovered, she has been lifting up her shirt to show off her healed belly to everyone she sees!

This is Kayla post vaccination and running her first fever. Taking care of a sick baby is no easy feat, she was pretty much crying everytime she wakes and its so heartbreaking!

We also suspect she's teething, because she already has toothbuds showing and has been drooling a lot lately. I bought her some drool bibs to try, and gosh they are a lifesaver!

Since she's awake a lot more in the day now, she finally gets to play in her activity gym hehe (She used to just stare for awhile and cry to be carried). She does get bored of it pretty quickly though :/ So I'm currently in the midst of planning a safe play area for her for when she starts being able to sit up next month! Kayla also really loves to go on strolls around the neighbourhood, she'll just keep staring at the birds and trees even when she's really tired and yawning a lot.

Happy baby ~

And here's Kayla in her new chair that we love so much! D and I both felt that this is our best baby product purchase ever. Can't even begin to describe how useful this is! And our only regret is that we didn't buy this sooner. Its a much safer way to help baby learn to sit, and she loves to look at her toys from this new angle :D Will do a proper review on this soon!

Wow this post turned out to be so much lengthier than I intended haha. Too many things to say when it comes to baby updates :D Yay happy 3 months!

  9. Hi, a new baby is called a “bundle of joy” for a reason – so where’s the joy?

There are a number of roadblocks that can trip you up on the path to finding joy in new motherhood: sleep disruptions, strains on your relationship with your spouse or partner, too much outside “advice,” and nagging self-doubts. There’s the worry, the stress and the never-ending tasks of tending to a helpless new life form.

But the joy is there, and being aware of and stocking up on activities and moments that bring you happiness will carry you through the tougher times. “That joy – that love – is circular,” Bernstein says. Babies give back what they receive, and those moments,

Hence, create a reservoir for you to keep tapping in to. I am so glad for you, mama Audrey,
both you and your husband have found that “bundle of joy” in this wonderful journey of parenthood!

  10. It’s so important to have fun with your baby,
and I truly rejoice with you on your baby dairy, mama Audrey!

Childhood is fleeting, and every age has something amazing and unique to offer.
I bet you will ride it through with great joy; enjoy!

  12. You are such an excellent mama to baby Kayla, you and your husband have prepared such a warm and loving home for her :-)
All babies need social interactions with loving adults who talk with them, listen to their babbling, name objects for them, and give them opportunities to explore their worlds. You have done all that for her!

  13. Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can commit.

Congratulation to you both to have such a lovely and fun baby!

  14. People often ask me, "What's the difference between couple hood and babyhood?" In a word? Moisture. Everything in my life is now more moist. Between your spittle, your diapers, your spit-up and drool, you got your baby food, your wipes, your formula, your leaky bottles, sweaty baby backs, and numerous other untraceable sources--all creating an ever-present moistness in my life, which heretofore was mainly dry.

I am pregnant with my second baby now <3

  15. Isn't it so amazing that she had her first laugh on her first mother's day?? So so precious!

Talking about the baby's first laugh, I have this short lines to share:

" When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. So there ought to be. By -- James Matthew Barrie "
