Birth Story: Kayla
So after a gruelling long wait Kayla is finally here ♥︎
We're finally home and she's 4 days old right now :)
Born on 7th Feb 2015 3:41am , 39weeks
Birth Weight: 2.3kg
Birth Story
After waiting and waiting for her to pop I've reached a point where I felt like I was going to be pregnant forever and on Friday (6th Feb) I decided to just head out for dinner with D and some friends. Just when we were about to leave the house (7pm) I started to feel really bad pain in my stomach, and it got more and more painful really fast. So we ended up rushing down to the hospital instead.
At the hospital they checked me and I was only 1.5cm dilated, so they burst my waterbag and placed me on drip to help me dilate faster. I was given laughing gas to help alleviate the pain while waiting for the epidural. I felt so much better after the epidural kicked in at about 9pm and we were asked to get some rest as active labour will probably only start the next morning. By 1130pm I was 3cm dilated and things were looking up! But at about 1230am baby's heart rate started dropping and it seemed like she didn't take too well to the drip. So the nurses lowered the dosage of the drip to almost 0 and that was a big problem because it meant that I might take a lot longer to dilate. Thinking that it will be at least another 7hrs till baby comes, I lowered the dosage of my epidural. But at 2am I started to feel very intense contractions and called for the nurse to up my epidural. It didn't seem to be working and for the next 1.5hours I was in extreme pain and felt like baby's coming out. It was only after 3am that the nurse checked me and told me I'm 10cm dilated and ready for delivery.
Everything happened really fast and after about 3 pushes Kayla was in my arms :)
Wow, little sweetie truly gorgeous!

Congrats! A Praise from all the babies:
ReplyDeletePsalm 139:14 I give thanks to You YAHUWAH, For I am awesomely and wondrously made! Wondrous are Your works, And my being knows it well.
Psa 139:15 My bones was not concealed from You, When I was shaped in a hidden place, Knit together in the depths of the earth.
Psa 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed body. And in Your book all of them were written, The days they were formed, While none was among them.
Psa 139:17 And how precious are Your thoughts to me, O Äšl! How great has been the sum of them!
Psa 139:18 If I should count them, They would be more than the sand; When I wake up, I am still with You, my awesome YAH.

hello congrates to you. stumble upon your blog review on Mt. E.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind sharing your experience with Dr. Wendy Teo please :)
Hi, sure :) I find Dr Wendy very calm, caring and experienced. She was there to receive me at the hospital reception when I was rushing in, and accompanied me into the delivery suite only leaving after she made sure I was comfortable. She also came back to check on me in between before I went into active labour. I've heard of many labour stories where the doctor only comes in at the last part when you're about to deliver, so I was really touched she went the extra mile. After delivering, she also came by the room to check on me a couple of times before I was discharged :) Highly recommend her!
DeleteCongrats on ur bundle of joy =) I came across your blog while finding review for delivery at mount e novena. Can you share your experiences there? are the nurses there good? are they helpful to guide if you are keen to breastfeed baby?
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you! :) Yep the nurses I encountered are warm and helpful, helped me with breastfeeding as well. They were also patient and taught us how to properly swaddle baby, change her diapers, burp her etc.
DeleteHi Audrey, do you mind sharing the actual delivery cost for the whole delivery? I stumbled on your blog talking about the review of Mt E Nov.
ReplyDeleteThank you in advance
