Week 32 Pregnancy

Friday, December 19, 2014

Hi! I'm here for another week of preggo ranting :) So happy to see more comments each week and thank you for sharing some valuable pregnancy tips with me as all!

This week has been pretty fulfilling for me; made it to the #Elskaturns2 event, managed to finally get my brows tweezed, met up with a couple of friends and satisfied my high tea craving at Marriot Cafe! Honestly speaking though, I wouldn't go back to Marriot Cafe for high tea ever again. There was a wide variety of food (feels a little like lunch/dinner buffet) but nothing spectacular. Was also really happy I got to bond with D's sister this week as well, first time going out with her on my own haha. It was really special for me since I've never expected myself to ever become close with my friends' or husband's family members before, too bad we didn't take any pictures! :x

Some pictures taken over the week ♥︎
If you follow me on instagram (@audt), you've probably already seen some of these hehh

This week I experienced the worst body aches I've ever had in my life. Am currently blaming it on going out for long hours 3days straight over the weekend (not going to attempt this again until after birth). On Monday I literally laid in bed for an hour after waking up because my body felt so so stiff and painful. I had to use the massage chair a couple of times a day on Monday and Tuesday before I felt better. Falling asleep was also harder because of all the aches :/ So I'm back to sleeping at weird hours again now boo.

My appetite has also gone down a little this week, still a perpetual hungry monster just that I can't eat as much at a go. Especially late at night, I tend to get these yucky acid refluxes that makes me lose my appetite and I'll end up snacking on biscuits instead.

On the bright side, our new helper finally arrived yesterday! D and I were the ones who went to pick her up from the agency hehe. Apparently, D saw our current helper happily chatting with the new one already last night. Am crossing my fingers that they'll get along well :) Any tips on how to better train a new maid please share with me!

That's about it for this week! #8moreweekstogo

  1. Knowing that soon you'll have a little one to cuddle and nurse is the constant joy during this period of time. Nine months seems like a very long time, but before you know it your baby will be here. Congrats to you and your family!

  2. Ya, 32 week, having a big, round belly! Don't forget to take some great photos lol... I like playing games with my baby at this time period, like catch the foot, or kick the daddy. We enjoy it and believing that this is a great way to bond with baby before birth. After the birth, you will miss these precious moments of your life. Have a great joyous day ahead!

  3. Just as you would not neglect seeds that you planted with the hope that they will bear vegetables and fruits and flowers, so you must attend to and nourish the garden of your baby's becoming. Read and pray the scriptures or Psalms to her, let her familiar with your voice and the Words of our Elohim even before her arrival in this physical world. This is the inner strength that we can build up for our dear little one while she is still within us.Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the belly I knew you, and before you came out of the womb I did set you apart"

May you and your husband enjoy the most happiest parenthood life with your lovely little girl

Pregnancy is one of it, the zest and passion of her very own - the unborn, the potential and the future within!

  5. Have you heard about "Foreign Domestic Worker Grant" in Singapore?

The FDW Grant is a monthly grant of $120 to support families who need to hire a foreign domestic worker to care for the frail elderly and persons with at least moderate disability.
You can check it out here: http://www.aic.sg/FDWGrant/

  6. Treating your maid fairly will bring you lot of benefit, both tangible and intangible. It is therefore worth the effort on trying to make her employment with you a happy one.

Firstly, you can save lots of time and money on changing maids. If you change maid too frequently, the Ministry of Manpower will also make it hard for you to apply work permit for new maid.

Secondly, if your maid is looking after your baby, it is going to take some time for your baby to get used to the practice of your new maid. Sometimes, your baby may not be able sleep well or experience anxiety when you have a new maid at home.

If your maid is looking after your parents, your parents may prefer to stick to old maid as they have gotten used to the way the old maid helps them.

Thirdly, you are going to spend another round of time and effort on training your new maid to use your household tools and appliances and communicating your household rule and expectations.

Lastly, a happy maid is an efficient maid. A happy maid may go the extra mile to help you and look after your baby just like her own baby and your parents just like her parents.

How should I manage my maid?

    1. Set Reasonable Expectations and Communicate them to maid
    2. Proper Training
    3. Reasonable Terms and Conditions
    4. A Schedule or Timetable
    5. Your House Rules
    6. Your Personal Preference and Common Sense
    7. Consistent Feedback
    8. Incentives for Good Work
    9. Do not over dependence on your maid
    10. Use of Hand Phone
    11. Do not ever abuse your maid
    Common Questions about Managing Maid:
Question 1: Is it okay to keep Maid's Passport on her behalf to prevent her from running away?
Answer: Unless you have the permission of the maid, it is against the law for an employer to keep maid's passport.

Question 2: Is it still okay to ask maid to clean window?
Answer: As announced by the Ministry of Manpower, maids will not be allowed to clean the window exteriors of high-rise HDB flats or apartments unless supervised. This means that you have to be physically present to supervise the maid while she cleaned your window.
You can also ask maids to clean windows in a situation where window grilles have been installed and are locked at all times during the whole cleaning process.

This rule is not applicable for windows that are at the ground level or along common corridors.

A healthy employer-employee relationship is beneficial to both you and the maid. It should start with first a proper communication with reasonable expectation, house rule and personal preference, follow by consistent feedback and rewards for good work. If you manage your maid well and she is willing to follow, she may in the end become an integral part of your family.
