Hello! Today's post is guest written by talented Lenny Marlina! Hehe this is actually the first time I've had a guest writer for my blog :) I really liked the idea of being able to use iPhone apps for fashion design, so I thought this would be a very helpful post for all you fashion obsessed kids :D Let me know what you guys think!

Top 5 Best Fashion Design Apps

Whether you’re looking for a bit of design inspiration or trying to put a sketch or sample together, apps can be surprisingly handy when it comes to fashion design. Here are the top 5 apps to help you work through the creative process from start to finish:

Fashion News Service by 360Fashion

This free app for BlackBerry devices is a go-to tool for keeping up-to-date with the latest news in fashion. It allows designers to browse through photos from the most famous catwalks around the world—New York, Milan, Paris, London, and Beijing—to get inspiration for their own creations. New features for BlackBerry Z10 include BBM support, active frames, offline storage, and background updates and notifications.

Moodboard

As the name suggests, this app is an excellent tool for creating mood and inspiration boards. The app is ideal for designers who want to work with high resolution images and a RGB/Hex colour palette to get a better feel for their design before they start the sketching process. It also allows designers to do some light photo editing and share their moodboards with others. The app is currently only available for iPad.

SketchBook Pro/SketchBook Mobile

While there are two different versions of this app—one for tablets and one for smartphones—they essentially have the same capabilities. Sketchbook grants designers access to professional-grade paint and drawing tools so that they can sketch whenever and wherever inspiration strikes. Designers can customise everything from your canvas sizes to your brushes to facilitate the creative process. This top-notch app is currently available for Android and Apple devices.

myPANTONE

We all know that when it comes to colour, Pantone knows best. Whether you’re lucky enough to be headed to FIDé Fashion Week at Marina Bay Sands this week or stuck at home, waiting for the latest images from the catwalk to hit the web, you’ll want to have the myPANTONE handy. The app allows you to easily match colours within images with the equivalent Pantone colour and generate colour families to aid you in the design process. Be at the cutting edge of next season’s looks with this helpful app for Apple and Android.

Ruler 2

When you’re ready to create samples, turn your smartphone or tablet into an accurate measurement tool with this app for Apple devices. The app allows you to take measurements in both metric & US systems, and to save your measurements on “scrap paper” so you can access them at any time. Measuring something a lot larger than your device? No problem. The app will provide you with strategies and tips for getting the most accurate measurement. You’ll never have to worry about carrying a physical measuring tape in-hand again.

Please sound off in the comment box below if you have any other interesting apps to share!
