Types of Playpens For Your Baby / Toddler

Hello! Today I'm going to share about this wooden playpen I got Kayla when she was less than 8months old :) I've had a number of friends and relatives ask me where I got this from when they came over to visit. Since I find this very useful and economical as well, I thought it'd be great to share more about it with you all here!

I did some research before deciding on this and will be sharing those options here as well ♥︎

Playpen Options

1. Plastic Playpen

This is the most common kind of playpen I've seen around, some even comes with an additional plastic slide for the kids to slide into the playpen! This is one of the most affordable options I've seen in the market, a good sized one will cost you somewhere between $100-$200, but I've seen some sites selling a set for less than $100.

To be honest I was really tempted to get this at first, but it doesn't really match the furniture in my living room and I kinda wanted something a little higher so Kayla can't attempt to climb out of it for a long time heh.

2. Vee Bee 6 Sided Play Yard

This is one play yard that I really liked because of the soft mesh walls and the colour it came in (black is so easy to match!). The frame is also padded so you don't have to worry about your little one knocking his/her head against the side. This high quality playpen comes with a hefty price tag though, retailing at $359.10 on FirstFewYears.com !

3. Mesh Playpen / Cot

Price $149

This kind of playpen is really popular and can be found in almost every home with babies because it's cheap and doubles up as a cot. The bad part about this is that it's too small for babies above 6mths old to crawl, walk around and play in for extended periods of time. I personally have something similar from NUNA (pictured below), and it's very useful for times when we need to place Kayla somewhere safe while we prepare her bath and stuff :)

Price $249

4. Wooden Playpen

This is the one I really love and highly recommend for families who are looking for a safe space for your toddlers to play in! I got this for less than $200 on Q100 which I find very reasonable; it's stable, comes with a gate and very spacious!

Kayla plays in here all the time and also has most of her meals inside :) This playpen also helped encourage her to walk, she would hold on to the fence and walk up and down hahaha. Some afternoons we will just lay a soft mat inside and she can nap there as well. It's really a lifesaver for us because when she first started crawling, she was so active and there wasn't any big enough "safe space" for her to play freely. She needed someone to watch her 24/7 which was very tiring for everyone at home, so when this came and she could play on her own, everyone was very happy!

  4. Wooden and plastic playpens are surely look much better and provide more space.
But they require lot's of space. In my case we don't have so much space in baby's room, so the only option for us was mesh playpen, like the following one www.best-pack-n-play.com
Whope in a while we'll be able to afford something bigger
